KEVIN BARRY

Kevin Barry, recently retired after serving 27 years with the Rhode Island State Police at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel/Deputy Superintendent. Prior to joining the state police, Kevin served in the United States Marine Corps.

In 2011, Kevin was a staff instructor at the RI State Police Training Academy. In 2013, Kevin served as the Commandant of the RI State Police Training Academy. As Commanding Officer of the Department of Public Safety, Kevin had oversight of the Rhode Island Municipal Training Academy and worked directly with the Rhode Island Police Officers Standards and Training, the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association and the Academy Staff to ensure best practices for policing as a law enforcement officer in the 21st century.

He has completed multiple marathons, half ironmans, and a full ironman triathlon. Kevin has additional knowledge and training in health, nutrition, and is a certified personal trainer.

With over 27 years of law enforcement experience, personal and professional physical fitness, and first-hand knowledge of testing, recruitment, and training of law enforcement candidates, Kevin understands what it takes to become a successful law enforcement officer and has the skills to provide to any potential candidate.

jason vieira

Jason Vieira is a Strength and Conditioning Specialist with 20 years of experience working with elite athletes, law enforcement, first responders, and military personnel, to increase productivity and job readiness.

As the owner of Balance Sport and Fitness in Jamestown, RI, Jason directs training and fitness programming designed to build strength, endurance, flexibility, and good health, acknowledging the individual needs of his clients.  

Jason also is a leader in Ocean State Jiu Jitsu based at Balance Fitness, which works with the Adopt-a-Cop program, a non-profit that allows active-duty patrol police officers to train for free at affiliated academies up to the second ranked belt, Blue Belt. Jason holds a purple belt in Jiu Jitsu.

Jason brings to his work a deep understanding of the mechanics of the human body, how to avoid and address injury, and train for maximum return. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Kinesiology, Jason began his career working with one of the world’s foremost authorities in the field of strength and conditioning, Mike Boyle.

Jason has earned certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Council on Exercise, with experience supporting orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists. 


dr. angela francis

Dr. Angela Francis was raised in Rhode Island and participated in athletics since childhood. She attended the University of Rhode Island (URI), where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. Upon graduation, Dr. Francis began personal training and received an Exercise Physiologist Certification with the American College of Sports Medicine.

While Dr. Francis had an interest in fitness and helping her clients reach their goals, she knew she wanted to expand her education and help people even more. Dr. Francis attended the University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic where she graduated with honors and received her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. She is currently employed as an associate chiropractor at MCR Chiropractic in Walpole, MA. Dr. Francis also continues to personal train and produce programs at Balance Fitness in Jamestown, RI. Dr. Francis believes in the synergy of chiropractic medicine and exercise physiology to achieve optimum health and wellness.


JOE AMARAL

Joe served in the United States Marine Corps from 2005 - 2017. During that time, Joe served at both 2d and 3d Reconnaissance Bn following the completion of the Amphibious Reconnaissance School (ARS 02-06) in March of 2006. Following his successful completion of Assessment Selection and Marine Special Operations Command’s (MARSOC) Individual Training Course (ITC 02-11), Joe served at 2d Raider Bn. Post Marine Corps, Joe served at the Defense Intelligence Agency and has 7 deployments between both military and federal service. Currently, Joe is a full-time member of the Rhode Island Army National Guard. 

Joe is an avid runner and swimmer whose central focus on training revolves around maintaining strength while still being competitive and the longer endurance-style events. Joe’s personal philosophy towards training has been to incorporate variations of strength training with high intensity interval training. At nearly 40, realistic strength goals in tandem with endurance cardio training have been infinitely successful in supporting his active lifestyle while remaining physically competitive at all age brackets.

Joe is a local runner who continues to compete locally in the Southern New England area. He is also a member of the RI Army National Guard Marathon team.

raymond mazzone

Raymond Mazzone recently retired after serving 31 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he spent 10 years as a Tactical Operator at the field SWAT level and 5 years as an operator on The Hostage Rescue Team. Raymond served as the Intelligence Officer for the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002, coordinating between various state and local agencies.

Prior to joining the FBI, Raymond received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Juris Doctorate at the University of Memphis. With his 31 years of experience, Raymond has taught and demonstrated both basic and SWAT level firearms, vehicular firearms training and movement, aircraft assault, and patrol firearms movement.

Raymond understands what it takes to train law enforcement officers, candidates, and individuals with the necessary firearms training and skills with or without previous firearms training. Raymond has EMT medical training in the SWAT and firearms fields..

pauL Medeiros

Paul Medeiros is a Rhode Island native, a Marine Corps Veteran Sergeant., and a Police Sergeant. with the Bristol Police Department. Within his extensive 20 years of experience, he has always served as a firearms instructor in various capacities.  

During his time in the Marines, Paul worked as a Marine Corps firearms instructor at Parris Island running “Chosin Range” for all new recruits. 

Upon honorable discharge from the Marines, Paul spent 3 years at the Wyatt Detention facility as a Sergeant serving as the assistant CERT Commander for a year, and was quickly promoted to Cert Commander where he served as a Shotgun and Pistol Instructor certified with the FBI and NRA.

Paul currently works as a Sergeant with the Bristol Police Department and is an instructor for Pistol, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle, and Active Shooter. In addition, Paul is a Pistol Instructor at the RI Municipal Police Training Academy. 

Paul’s love of teaching firearm safety is the foundation of his many years of success within the firearms instructor space. Although Paul values all aspects of firearms safety, his main passion is instructing new recruits and participating in the success of those programs. 

Paul lives in Bristol Rhode Island with his wife and daughter. When he is not on the range or at work you can find him spending time with his family and keeping up with the latest trends in firearms training. 

andrew henault

Andrew is a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has experience training athletes of all levels, as well as law enforcement personnel and those in training. In addition, he has worked in the field of physical therapy and brings expertise in injury prevention. Andrew is a former college wrestler and competed for the nationally ranked Springfield Pride. Andrew, a retired police officer, provides knowledge and experience as a Fit2Serve wrestling instructor. Andrew is motivated to keep those in law enforcement safe by providing realistic, experience-based, grappling fundamentals.

Andrew holds a BA in Criminal Justice from Springfield College ‘05 and has earned certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, International Sports Science Association, and American Fitness Professionals & Associates.

Andrew is an East Greenwich native and athletic hall-of-fame inductee. Andrew resides in Exeter with his wife and three daughters.
